THE SCORING SYSTEM
The Scoring System was created as a toolkit for all travellers to evaluate how green their trip has been. Divided into three sections following the Green Travel Protocol (transport, packing/unpacking and work and visit) a series of measurable criteria have been designated to know the level of sustainability of each trip made.
Within these categories, a series of criteria have been established to assess the sustainability of the actions carried out in each of the trips undertaken. On a scale of 1 to 5, select the actions that most closely resemble the practices you carry out during a business trip, with 1 being the least sustainable action and 5 the most sustainable.
In order to give a score, the criteria have been formulated in the form of questions to which each answer has been assigned a score that will give a final result per section. So, depending on the score obtained in each section, the user will be able to check how green their trip has been and, in addition, we have designed a table of results, where we explain the result obtained and give a series of recommendations to follow based on the Green Travel Protocol.
How to use the Scoring System
Ready to make your travel more sustainable? The scoring system is your personal tool to evaluate and improve your travel habits. Here’s how to get the most out of it:
Be Honest with Yourself
- Why It Matters: The scorecard is a mirror, not a report card. It’s here to help you grow, not to judge.
- How to Do It: Answer each question truthfully, even if it’s tough. Your honesty is what makes the system effective. Think of it as a way to get to know your travel habits better—and to spot where you can improve.
Choose Your Focus: Single Trip or Multiple Trips?
- Single Trip: Want to analyze a recent journey? Scoring one trip helps you zoom in on specific details, making it easier to spot quick wins for future trips.
- Multiple Trips: Looking for a bigger picture? Score several trips to see patterns in your behavior. This approach helps you understand your overall travel style and make meaningful, long-term changes.
Turn Scores into Action
- Reflect: Got your score? Great! Now, think of it as a starting point. High score? Keep up the good work. Room for improvement? That’s your cue to tweak your habits.
- Take Action: Use your scores as a roadmap. Pick one or two areas to focus on and make a plan to improve. Maybe it’s choosing a greener mode of transport next time or packing lighter. Small changes add up!
Set Personal Challenges
- Challenge Yourself: Use the scorecard to set personal challenges. For example, can you beat your last score on your next trip? Or maybe aim for a specific improvement, like reducing your carbon footprint by a certain percentage.
- Celebrate Wins: Don’t forget to celebrate when you hit your goals! Share your progress with friends or on social media to inspire others to travel greener, too.
Ready to start? Take a deep breath and dive into the world of sustainable travel! Each score is a step towards a greener future—let’s make every journey count.
