THE PROJECT
Project description
The project idea is formulated from recent EPALE and EAEA reports showing that Education for Sustainable Development in Adult Education is structurally underfunded and often overshadowed by professional development.
It is therefore essential to produce more learning opportunities in the AE sector and to equip educators with green teaching skills, especially in environmental awareness, active citizenship and green skills development.
Our Objectives
Increasing the ability
of various (adult education) institutions to adopt greener travel practices permanently
Increasing the capacity
of (adult education) institutions to improve, teach, train and motivate their learners to adopt »greener« travel and mobility practices
Promote a change
in the perception of sustainability as systemic, collective and individual action
Target Group
The primary target group are adult educators, youth workers, teachers, group leaders, and various professionals who often travel in groups or alone due to the nature of their work.
The secondary target group are adult learners, students, volunteers and others who travel abroad or inside their countries for professional, educational or private reasons. They will receive knowledge, skills and motivation from the educators and institutions (primary target group) where they attend educational activities or even take part in travelling.
Results
Green Travel Protocol
The Green Protocol will collect tips and strategies that institutions can adopt to make their travel greener. It will cover different stages of travel like planning, preparation, mode of transport, choosing the accommodation etc. It will also consider factors like distance, the number of travellers etc. The strategies within will guide the organisations to make changes on an internal systemic level, not simply on a travel-to-travel basis.
Vademecum Green
This vademecum will provide the users with simple and practical tips for daily green travel. It will directly reduce their environmental impact, making them greener travellers and more socially responsible individuals. It will also increase the capacity of the partners and stakeholders in the field of (adult) education to directly and quickly educate their learners about green travel.
